Dear Professor Kripke:
The Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral
Sciences has asked me to organize a special interest
group in philosophy and artificial intelligence for the academic
year 1979-80 at the Center. The idea is that participants would
spend the academic year at the Center and would
interact with other members of the group as well as
pursuing their scientific and scholarly interests.
As you see from the enclosed prospectus, the
group should include people accomplished in
artificial intelligence, epistemology, and in the
formalization of intensional (intentional) concepts.
If your plans were compatible with participating,
it would greatly enhance the study. Besides the academic
year study, we should probably also plan a conference,
and if you can't take part in the study, how about the conference,
which would probably be in early September or late
August 1979? Also, whom else would you recommend,
especially in the area of formalization of
intensional statements?
